GRAY IS KING OF THE OUTLAWS, FOUR FIRST TIME WINNERS FRIDAY AT CMP
GRAY IS KING OF THE OUTLAWS, FOUR FIRST TIME WINNERS FRIDAY AT CMP
CLAREMONT, N.H. - Brandon Gray scored his second dominant victory in as many weeks Friday at Claremont Motorsports Park. Different car, different division, it all worked out the same for the East Thetford, VT super star.
And while it was the second win of the early season for last summer’s speedway Super Street champion, Friday’s romp to victory was Gray’s first in the Asetex Tire & Auto Outlaw Late Model division. Three other drivers scored their first wins too at the chilly Friday night event, two of them posting career firsts at the Thrasher Road speedplant.
Lavalley Building Supply Pure Stock ace Chris Chambers roared to his third win of the season and, with it, took sole possession of the points lead, Ridge Runner hot shoe Trevyr Young topped his division for the third week in a row, and then there were the first timers.
Super Street powerhouse Robert Hagar, who’d lost a heartbreaker seven days earlier, ended Chris Riendeau’s unbeaten run Friday, Mini Stock rocketman Nick Miller blasted to victory in his first time ever on the track, and SIx Shooter star Meghan Bell, a strong performer in recent weeks, scored a no-doubt-about-it victory under the lights Friday.
Cory Bly and Cody Schoolcraft sat up front as the 40-lap Asetex Tire and Auto Outlaw Late Model main event went green and, with Bly’s hood flying up as they fired through the Valley Artesian Well starting zone, Schoolcraft blasted off to the early lead, Trevor Rocke and Gray were soon glued to his bumper,
Gray had second on lap three and took the top spot from Schoolcraft eight circuits later. While he would win with ease, there were still many great battles waged behind him. Robbie Streeter, Gray’s car owner and a star driver himself, powered into second on lap 16 and he and Schoolcraft raced under a blanket until Streeter wobbled on lap 18, putting Schoolcraft back to the deuce spot, from where he’d finish, although far, far behind the high-flying Gray.
With steady Trevor Rocke impressing in third, fourth was very much up for grabs until the final lap. Streeter prevailed for fourth after a tooth-and-nail battle with former track champ and opening weekend winner Ben Poland.
A week ago, Chris Riendeau swiped a victory from Robert Hagar with a last lap pass to stay unbeaten at three in the RE Hinkley Fuels Super Streets. This time around Hagar would have none of it, holding off his fellow Vermonter for his first victory of the season.
Joe Tetreault and Daniel Petrowicz were the first two up front in the Super Street 25-lapper, with Hagar low-lining out of turn four to take charge on lap three. Two more rapid fire trips around, he had Riendeau filling his mirror.
While Riendeau would stay within two lengths of the speedy leader until race’s end,, on this Friday there was no last lap drama, as Hagar added to a long list of CMP victories with his first of 2026 Friday, Petrowicz’s strong night’s work netted him third, Tetreault was fourth, and Erik Smith rounded out the top five.
Chris Chambers entered Friday’s LaValley’s Building Supply Pure Stocks in a three-way tie atop the points parade, deadlocked with Gage Dillingham and Carter Conroy atop the championship chase. Dominating both his heat and feature races, the former track champ is now alone at the summit.
Chambers, firing from row three, took the lead from Parker Fowler on lap five and never looked back.Bay State blaster Jimmy Zellman got up for second on lap 21 but had nothing for Chambers on this night.
Dillingham was third on the night, Fowler’s breakout night netted him fourth, just ahead of potent Ben Bushey. Conroy, mired in heavy traffic in the 17-car field, could advance no further than sixth. Chambers and Conroy dominated their heats.
There’s a new kid on the block in the CMP Mini Stocks and he - Nick Miller, hauling south from Berlin, NH for his first-ever run on the fast third-mile Friday - left no doubt that he’s someone to watch.
Multi-time champ Kyle Templeton had run virtually unchallenged in early season Mini Stock events this season. Friday, Miller took charge on lap 14 and outran Templeton to win by three lengths. Former track champ Kodi Sabins was third, Sean Lantas fourth, and Andrea St. Amour fifth.
Meghan Bell had run strongly in Six Shooter events early this season but not like she did Friday. Taking the lead on lap two, she sped off to earn a popular victory in the night’s 25-lap main event. Michael Yeaton worked his way through the field twice to finish second, with two-time winner Michael Casey close behind.
Steve Miller Jr. and Lincoln Herschel completed Friday’s Six Shooter top five. Defending track champ Steve Miller walked away from a scary head-on with the turn three wall on lap 14.
In the JP’s Trucking Ridge Runners, Trevyr Young just keeps rolling along. The Green Mountain State hot shoe rocketed to his third in a row Friday, cruising to easy wins in both his heat and feature races. Lane Lantas was second on the night, Ethan Meyette third, Konnor Janovsky fourth, and early feature leader James Rhodes fifth,
In Friday;s show-opening Karting Series Purple Novice event, Windsor fourth-grader Abel Conley won a close one over Ryker Centunze. Aaliyah Nestervich impressed in third.
Claremont Motorsports Park returns to action with a Memorial Day weekend doubleheader on tap. On Friday, May 24, the thundering Granite State Pro Stock Series comes to town for a 150-lap,$5,000-to-win main event atop a full card of NASCAR Local Racing Series action. Then, on Sunday, May 24, the fast third-mile will host another full card of oval track action
