Dean Smith Memorial 52 Returns to Claremont Motorsports Park This Friday Night

CLAREMONT, NH — The ground-pounding tour-type light models make their highly anticipated return to Claremont Motorsports Park this Friday night, August 1, for a special event honoring one of the region’s most respected racers—the Dean Smith Memorial 52.

This 52-lap main event will feature some of the top tour-type light model drivers from across the Northeast, all battling for a $1,000 winner’s purse and the prestige of etching their name into this growing tradition.

The memorial race is held in honor of Dean Smith, a beloved competitor who spent many seasons racing at Claremont Motorsports Park and other tracks throughout New England. Known for his determination behind the wheel and sportsmanship in the pits, Dean left a lasting legacy on the local racing scene. Friday’s event promises to deliver the kind of intense, respectful racing that would make Dean proud.

“Dean was more than just a driver—he was a friend to many and a great representative of what short track racing is all about,” said track promoter Mike Parks. “This event is our way of honoring his memory and giving fans a great night of racing action.”

Fans can expect a full night of racing, with the Dean Smith Memorial headlining a stacked program that also features several of the speedway’s weekly divisions.

Pit gates open at 3:30 PM, practice begins at 5:00 PM, and the first green flag drops at 7:00 PM.
