The Turkey Day Classic brought CLAREMONT to a CLOSE for its 78th SEASON

GRAY, KENNY, SMITH WIN SATURDAY AS CLAREMONT CLOSES 78th SEASON
Claremont Motorsports Park Saturday, November 29, event story

CLAREMONT, N.H. - Oval track aces Brandon Gray and Kyle Kenny concluded their successful 2025 racing seasons Saturday at Claremont Motorsports Park, scoring Turkey Day Classic victories as the historic third-mile speedplant closed out its 78th consecutive year of competition.
One hundred and five teams, each still filled with turkey and pumpkin pie, packed the Thrasher Road track’s pits, each in quest of bragging rights to carry them through the holiday season and into the forthcoming 2026 CMP season. Seven went home with winner’s trophies, hard-earned on a chilly November afternoon.
Gray topped the Super Street 50-;lap main event, Kenny was victorious again in the Pure Stocks, and hot shoe Craig Smith scored his first career win in the Mini Stocks.
Dave Cameron won his first-ever at CMP, outrunning the field in the Ridge Runner/Pro V8 Sportsman 25-lap feature, Pork Chop Austin Erickson edged track owner Ben Bosowski to win the Crown Vic main, it was Michael Casey first under the checkers in the Six Shooters, and Enduro Superman Albie Ovitt stormed to victory in the nightcap 50-lapper.
George Baldwin, a strong third in his earlier heat race, led all the way in the RE Hinkley Fuels Super Street 50-lapper. Run under R&R Open Street Stock rules, this one had some of the best in New England in its starting field, none faster than Baldwin.
And while he had the fastest car in the field, he had plenty of competition. Charging Charlie Baldwin, who’d thrilled the fans with his Fall Challenge victories here a month ago, got up second on lap three and rode in the leader’s shadow until the checkers waved 47 caution-free circuits later. But while most eyes were on the battle of the Baldwins, 2025 track champ Brandon Gray was charging through the field to an apparent third.
When the dust had settled in the post-race tech line, Gray was declared the winner, Bay State ace Adam Gray, like the winner a second generation oval track star, moved up to second, and two-time CMP Modified ace Nate Wenzel was third. Fourth went to Cory Fanning, and Brian Caswell was fifth.
Rutland, VT four-holer star Kyle Kenny was in a class of his own Saturday in the LaValley Building Supply Pure Stocks, winning first his heat race by a country mile, and then later duplicating that domination in the 25-lap feature.
Kenny started up front in the main event and simply drove away from the field to win with ease. Jamie Heath, who’d also topped his qualifier, kept Kenny in sight for a while, but when a red flag halted action on lap 22, he’d found himself a full straightaway behind.
Kenny was up to the challenge on the restart, again blasting off to score the win. With Heath a solid second, Shawn Meadow, Andrew Hills, and CMP weekly regular Nathan Waterman completed the top five. Once Tech was completed both Waterman & Hills failed, thus bringing Andrew Plumb & Linsey Wenzel into the top five.
The Mini Stock feature was a two-man, two car affair. Kyle Templeton, the 2024 and 2025 CMP champ, and Craig Smith traded paint and traded places, each occasionally dirt tracking in their heated battle. The win went to Smith, aboard the Dave Aiken ride in his Mini Stock debut, with Templeton second and CMP Pure Stock champ Colton Hull third.
Dave Cameron won a thriller in the JP’s Trucking Ridge Runner/Pro V8 Sportsman feature, edging ahead of Scott Riggleman on lap 15 and then outrunning him to the checkers in the afternoon’s two-caution 25-lap feature. Addie Foster was solid in third, Jacob Rheaume finished at her bumper in fourth, and CMP weekly runner Jim Carley came home fifth.
With no fewer than 19 Crown Victorias in the pits, Saturday’s 25-lapper was sure to be a good one. And that it was.
Starting up front after earlier winning his heat race, Austin Erickson kept Ben Bosowski in his shadow all the way to win a thriller. With Bosowski, an earlier winner this season on his CMP oval, a close second, Ludlow, MA twin stars Chase and Jaret Curtis finished third and fourth, and Jamie Heath - doing double duty Saturday, was fifth in the cop car 25. The deep and exciting V8 Ford division will compete weekly here next summer.
Michael Casey won both his Six Shooter heat and feature races on Turkey Day Classic Saturday at CMP. Michael Yeaton, driving a backup ride Saturday, was second in both, and Mike Lafayette was third in the 25-lap feature. John McCarthy finished fourth, and fifth went to Josh Brigham.
A swarming field of 42 cars went to war in the final event of the year, with Enduro rock star Albie Ovitt rocketing from last to first in the 50-lap Enduro event. Trevor Jaques was second under starter Chris Horton’s checkers, with oval tracker JD Stockwell third, George Frost Jr. fourth, and Tim Colby fifth.
Its 2025 season now concluded, Claremont Motorsports Park is already looking forward to its 79th summer of competition. The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre annual Enduro event is set for February 28, with the summer season kicking off with the two-day Spring Fling event on April 18 and 19, and looking farther ahead, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour comes to town on July 10.
